![]() To add sockets to armor, transmute a normal armor with a Tal rune, a Thul rune, and a perfect Topaz. To add sockets to a weapon, transmute a normal weapon with a Ral rune, an Amn rune, and a perfect Amethyst.I choose El rune for both because this way spamming Lesser Socketing will delay how soon you can do your first Greater Socketing. Here’s how to add sockets with Horadric Cube recipes: That’s why I chose rare jewel as the limiting item in the recipe. If you get unlucky, you won’t find a rare jewel until you’re in hell. If you get really really lucky, you can do this in act2 normal. Instead of separating recipes by item rarity, I separated them by how many sockets they give. Lesser Socketing is very cheap, but pretty weak. Greater Socketing: El + Rare Jewel + Perfect Skull + Item → adds 4 sockets to magic, 2 to rare and crafted, 1 to set and unique item. Lesser Socketing: El + Magic Jewel + Skull + Item → adds 2 sockets to a magic items, 1 socket to a rare items. ![]() I implemented these in D2L and they seem to work. Random number of sockets is just a cheap way for Blizz to prolong the grind. Well, if you get 1 socket, toss your weapon in the trash and get back to grinding. Say you find a rare weapon, and you need 2 sockets for some attack speed breakpoint. Two issues: two few sockets, and too much randomness. We do need sockets, but I don’t like what you’re proposing.
